Since 1999, Bridge the Gap has been serving children involved with the Division of Children and Family Services is Vancouver, Washington. In 2005, approximately 413 children received goods/ services form Bridge the Gap. This includes, but is not limited to, offering assistance with new cloths, school supplies, graduation needs, athletics, arts,music,camps and Christmas gifts.
- Entrance Program - The entrance program is designed to ensure all children entering the foster care system have their basic clothing, school supply, and hygiene needs met within the first 48 hours.
- Music/Arts/Athletics - Musical equipment and lessons, sports fees, uniforms, and equipment are provided to children when needed.
- Christmas Program - Gifts for children in foster care are provided each Holiday Season, to fulfill special wishes, bridging the gap when no other resources are available.
- Camps - Scholarships are available for all camps - recreational, sports, church, enrichment, skill building, etc.
- Graduation - Announcements, pictures, cap and gown, etc. will be provided to youth graduating from high school. With less than 50% of youth graduating while exiting foster care, this is a priority, and an investment for their future.
- Skill building - Courses designed to assist youth in developing their potential or supplement their education are valued and encouraged by BTG.
